American-born Thompson lives and works in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She has a Bachelor’s degree in International Studies and Visual Arts from Eckerd College, focussing on Latin American and socio-cultural anthropology. Her expressionist work filters reality through a personal mythology rendered in oil painting, ritual performance film, and sculptural artefacts.
Thompson has always been fascinated by the mysteries of the soul and her art seeks to capture her sense of wonder at the “unseen world” that lies beyond phenomenological experience – a world that explores the significance of death, rebirth, ritual, mythology, and dream landscapes. Her painting is an intensely physical enterprise into which she pours her whole body, driven by the same passion that she pours into her performance art.
